For this project, I decided to combine both the bust project as well as the master work of art turned 3D. For this project, I am recreating "The Girl with a Pearl Earring" by Johannes Vermeer in 3D. I thought it would be quite fun to try my hand at recreating her face- however it is very challenging to do so. She has quite soft eyes, and her parted lips make for quite the challenge. Her face is almost caught off guard, as though someone called her name while she was in the middle of a conversation. When I was making this, I hadn't really realized that spring break was coming up so I was really taking my time with this project- however, on the A day right before we left for break, I forgot that it would dry up too much to be able to work on it again after the break- and this was already 20 minutes into the class! I had A LOT of work I wanted to do and spend time on but at that point I only had 30 minutes to finish her... So I was really rushed in the end and her cloth really did not turn out how I wanted it to- as well as her clothes. I definitely needed her neck to be showing a bit more but I didn't have enough time to cut the clay away :(. In the end I think she turned out alright but she definitely looks rushed to me in many areas.
