This landscape painting was greatly inspired by the Miyazaki Studio Ghibli movie "Porco Rosso", in fact, the small red plane is the main characters plane in the movie. I think that it is a really gorgeous and dreamy movie, and I have always really loved it. I think if I were to do this again however, I would want to make the plane a bit bigger and maybe have the plane trails pop out more. I'm happy with it for the most part but I feel like the clouds could have been painted more sharp, I wanted the clouds to have more fluffy looking edges. Another thing I was very inspired by was renaissance paintings of heaven; I think that the golden colors they use are very gorgeous and I really wanted to imitate that. My master artist does a lot of landscape painting and I liked the way that he painted the sky and clouds- so I used his paintings as reference for the soft light and soft blends.
